For Dogs! A Science Tail, a bilingual touring exhibition developed by the California Science Center and Evidence Design, 3rd Person was hired by Unified Field to oversee the production of 15 linear media films ranging from documentary shorts to commercial spoofs to educational videos for an interactive kiosk. Working under a tight budget, we wrote scripts, managed production teams, casted canine talent, interviewed many experts, shot and edited footage, and thoroughly enjoyed working on this project.
Dogs! A Science Tail has appeared at the California Science Center, the Museum of Science Boston, the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science, the Denver Museum of Nature & Science, and Exploration Place Wichita, and will be coming to a city near you!
The intro film, From Predator to Pooch: Dog Evolution, explores the 10,000-year-old bond between humans and dogs. The film is composed of original and sourced footage, original animations and 3D models composed to tell a complicated history, in a brief and delightful animated tale. The animations were created with the help of a freelance 3D modeler and Unified Field’s in-house animator.
Partners With Paws, a documentary short made in collaboration with Canine Companions for Independence, the nation’s largest provider of service dogs who help people with disabilities live more independently, was truly a labor of love for me. We shot footage, interviewed all the subjects (including the dogs), and edited this feel-good short that reminds you of the special bond between humans and dogs.
The Future of Dogs explores the work of dog scientists at Emory University, Georgia Tech, and NC State. We learned a great deal interviewing these experts, filmed a dog in an MRI machine, and edited this piece which highlights the groundbreaking work being conducted in these labs.
Dog Infomercial, a spoof on both pharmaceutical commercials and infomercials, extols the health benefits inherent in the relationship between dogs and humans. We wrote and produced this fun video as well as casted all the talent (human and canine).
